CHOOSE Act Reform

Fiscal guardrails to protect Alabama's education budget and public schools

The CHOOSE Act Needs Fiscal Guardrails

The CHOOSE Act may have been explained as expanding educational options, but in practice we need fiscal guardrails so it doesn't break Alabama's education budget and hurt public schools.

My Solution: Reform the CHOOSE Act to Protect Education Funding

  • Implement spending caps to prevent the program from growing beyond what Alabama can afford
  • Add accountability measures to ensure funds are used effectively and transparently
  • Protect public school funding so rural districts aren't left behind
  • Evaluate the program by results: Does it actually improve educational outcomes without breaking the budget?
"We can't let school choice voucher programs drain resources from public schools that serve most Alabama families. That's not choice—that's abandoning our communities."
